Three bus passengers were taken to a local hospital after the bus they were traveling in ran a red light and collided with a pickup truck in the city of Modesto on Monday. According to Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves, the accident occurred March 13th around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Tully Road and Orangeburg Avenue. The bus was carrying a total of six passengers.
According to authorities, the bus was traveling north on Tully Road when Robert Castillo, the 60-year-old driver, ran a red light and struck the truck. The identities and extent of the victim’s injuries were not disclosed. All three injury victims complained of pain prior to being transported to the hospital. The driver of the pickup was identified as Harrold Arrazate, 26. Arrazate was the sole occupant of his vehicle. Neither driver reported being injured in the crash.
An investigation is still ongoing in order to determine all the factors that led to this collision. It is unclear at this time if speeding was involved. According to Graves, the driver of the bus was not cited for the incident.
