A Riverside County accident in Indio, California proved fatal for a woman who was hit by a SUV. She was airlifted to the hospital, but died of her injuries, a police spokesman said. The unidentified pedestrian was hit by a 1993 red Ford Explorer on Coeur D’ Alene Drive.
She was apparently walking to get her mail inside the Indian Springs Country Club when she was hit. Melody Hendrickson of the Riverside County Fire Department said that the woman was in “critical condition” when paramedics transported her to the hospital.
CA Wrongful Death
Within a half an hour of the crash, an air ambulance was sent to nearby La Quinta to take the woman to Desert Regional Medical Center. However, the woman passed away when she arrived there, said Ben Guitron of the Indio Police Department.
Indio police are now investigating the accident, and say they haven’t determined whether or not charges will be filed against the 68-year old male driver of the SUV.
