In a tragic San Bernardino County accident, a bus carrying members of a Korean church collided with a Nissan Murano, and slid off a mountain highway. The church bus accident killed the driver and seriously injured 10 others.
According to San Bernardino County authorities, members of the Light of Love Mission Church congregation were returning to Pasadena from a weekend retreat in Twin Peaks when their driver reportedly lost control on a curve and crossed into oncoming traffic.

After striking the car, the church bus hit a telephone pole and slid about 20 feet down an embankment. The bus driver, Won Seok Chae, 61, was killed in the collision. Ten people were seriously injured and another 13 suffered moderate injuries in this church bus accident, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Mario Lopez.
Daniel Lee, a deacon at the Pasadena-based church, said the bus was returning from the Pinecrest Christian Conference Center near the crash site. Church member William Sa said he had been nervous about the children on the trip, given recent weather that dumped rain and snow over much of Southern California.
Cause of this Church Bus Accident?
The CHP said the road where the bus slid was wet, but not icy. John Cho, another deacon at the church, said the bus driver was a professional driver who volunteered to make the trip. But Cho still had reservations, “I just had a bad feeling that the weather was so severe,” he said.
Of the 24 who were hurt, 12 are still in hospitals — two in West Los Angeles, seven at Loma Linda University Medical Center listed in fair-to-serious condition, and the three most seriously injured, including a girl listed as extremely critical, at Arrowhead Regional Medial Center in Colton. The most seriously injured girl suffered abdominal and head injuries.
