Demi Lovato Involved in Los Angeles Car Accident

Disney Channel singer/actress Demi Lovato was recently involved in a minor Los Angeles car accident near her home in Sherman Oaks, California.

According to witnesses, the teen star was apparently shaken up, but not injured according to bystanders.

She was very responsible and waited over an hour for the owner of the car that she hit to arrive on the scene of the fender bender. Lovato’s black Mercedes luxury vehicle suffered scrapes along the driver’s side.

She is the second celeb to be involved in an auto mishap recently, soccer star David Beckham was involved in a Los Angeles car accident a few weeks ago.

Los Angeles Car Accident Reports and the Law

In California, there are two types of hit & run offenses: misdemeanor and felony. You may be charged with a California misdemeanor hit and run if you leave the scene of an accident without first identifying yourself to the other party or parties involved and if another person’s property was damaged in the car accident.

The difference between a California misdemeanor hit and run and a California felony hit and run is this: a misdemeanor hit and run is concerned with property damage, felony hit and run is concerned with injury. You may be charged with the felony if someone (other than yourself) was injured.
