A pregnant woman, Concepcion Gomez, died in a crash that was caused by a drunk driver, according to the California Highway Patrol.
This California wrongful death reportedly occurred in Stanislaus County.
Gomez, who was seven months pregnant, was riding in a Honda Odyssey on West Main Street, when her van was struck by a black Mercedes driven by Miguel G. Almanza.
Gomez died at the scene.

The other occupants of the Odyssey — 39-year-old Juan Rodriguez, 6-year-old Andres Rodriguez and 1-year-old Ricardo Rodriguez — were injured.
Juan Rodriguez is listed in good condition at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. His brother, Andres Rodriguez, was taken to the University of California Medical Center in Sacramento, is in fair condition. Ricardo has been treated and discharged.
Almanza was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. He could be charged with driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter when he recovers, according to the CHP.

The crash could have been avoided, CHP officer Eric Parsons said. “With any DUI collision, by making the choice to get behind the wheel you’re putting other lives at risk.”
